The Mechthild Esser Nemmers Prize in Medical Science

The $350,000 Mechthild Esser Nemmers Prize in Medical Science is awarded to physician scientists whose body of work exhibits outstanding achievement in medical science as demonstrated by works of lasting significance. Recipients present a public lecture and participate in various on-site scholarly activities at Northwestern University.

Nominations are open for the 2024 Mechthild Esser Nemmers Prize in Medical Science. They are due November 1, 2023.

Nominating letters should be a maximum of 750 words and should explain why the work of this investigator is groundbreaking. The nominee's five most influential or groundbreaking publications must also be provided. Candidacy for the Nemmers Prize is open to physician-scientists whose body of research exhibits outstanding achievement in their disciplines as demonstrated by works of lasting significance. Individuals of all nationalities and institutional affiliations are eligible except current or recent members of the Northwestern University faculty and recipients of the Nobel Prize.
